A Year Ago on miss minimalist

September 20, 2010

Now that my blog has celebrated a birthday, I can write cool flashback posts on what I was blogging about last year. How fun! :-) I think it’ll be a good way to introduce new readers to some of the topics I’ve covered, and maybe spark some new and interesting discussion.

Here’s what I wrote in my first week of blogging, this time last year:

  • I Have Freebie Phobia: My thoughts on turning down those little gifts, tchotchkes, and trial sizes companies try to give us.
  • Goodbye, Stuff: My “Dear John” letter for breaking up with my stuff.
  • How to Create a Minimalist Bathroom: Ten ways to create a space that soothes your soul while you brush your teeth.
  • Self Storage Units – Turn in the Keys!: Some questions to ask if you’re stowing your stuff in a storage unit.
  • Minimizing Magazines: How to declutter your reading pile, and save some trees in the process.

I hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane, and perhaps rediscover an old favorite or two!

How wonderful! I look forward to “flashback” posts; it’s always nice to catch up on things I’ve missed or to re-read a great post you’ve made.

I love the “I have free phobia” posting. I recently went through all the free stuff I had accumulated over the past year (hotel lotions and shampoos, free pens, refrigerator magnets, etc…) and got rid of the items that were not serving any purpose, which was pretty much every item! :) What is it about free stuff? We think we have to take it or we might miss out! I try to keep in mind that just because it’s free doesn’t mean I need to take it, just like i don’t need to buy everything I see either.

Thanks again for a great blog and such wonderful info. It keeps me on my minimalist journey track.

This was great. It was so nice to go back in time and read those since I wasn’t a reader then.

You asked for suggestions last time and this post spurred another one.

If you could add a “Memory Lane” section at the bottom of your future posts and include links to old posts, then eventually I can make my way through all your entries.

    Thank you!

I love your blog and read every single one of your posts. I’m glad you have such a great archive after 1 year. However, I must say I don’t look forward to “A Year Ago” posts. While I realize new readers might like them, I feel like they are clutter. I want to read new stuff! I used to read Unclutterer religiously but have moved away from it partly because of how much they repost last year’s (and even older) material. Just had to voice my opinion on the subject.
