My name is Charis. A few years ago, I was tens of thousands of dollars in debt, bought clothes out of stress or boredom, and had a house full of stuff I didn’t know I owned.… {Read more}

Real Life Minimalists: Wally

Every Monday I post Real Life Minimalists, a profile of one of my readers in their own words. If you’d like to participate, click here for details.

Today we have a wonderful story from Wally, whose new baby girl gave him a new perspective on life and made him ready to embrace minimalism.

Wally writes:

I’m a collector by nature and nurture. Growing up, I always had a collection of something on the go; be it keyrings, stickers, pogs, action figures and more recently in adulthood, books, games, DVDs and movie memorabilia. My parents also had, and still have, collections; stamps, pig figurines, coins, books etc.… {Read more}

A Lighter Way to Scan

A Lighter Way to Scan

If you’ve been reading my blog for some time, you know I love my scanner. My goal is to be as paperless as possible, and my scanner has been instrumental in helping me achieve that.

So I never, ever, ever dreamed that I might declutter my scanner (and I haven’t yet). But lately, I’ve been bypassing it and using my new favorite app, Scannable.

I should add a disclaimer here that I’m no technology guru. I can count the number of apps I use on one hand: Instagram, Kindle, and the camera and calculator apps that came installed on my phone.… {Read more}

Dan writes:

Ever felt like a hamster on a wheel?

Wake up. Commute to work. Work. Commute home. Eat. Sleep. Rinse and repeat. A seemingly never-ending and monotonous loop. A hamster on a wheel getting nowhere fast in life.… {Read more}

Real Life Minimalists: Penny

Every Monday I post Real Life Minimalists, a profile of one of my readers in their own words. If you’d like to participate, click here for details.

I love this story from Penny, who embraced a more minimalist lifestyle to move into the small home of her dreams.

Penny writes:

Being a minimalist was not something I set out to do.

I was just ‘sick of living in mess’ and dreamt of downsizing to a small clutter free house instead of the oversized ‘filled’ house we lived in.

Then we decided to move house and I realised this was my opportunity to find the small house of our dreams.… {Read more}

Today we hear from Lynne, who tells us how minimalism has brought such wonderful freedom and joy to her life.

Lynne writes:

In November of 2017, nearly 10 years after stepping into my first recovery meeting and laden with mental and physical stuff, I set off on a journey. With my beloved, amazing wife, our small, leased Chevy Trax, a few hundred dollars and some bits of belongings that we chose to keep, we set out to find freedom.… {Read more}

Every Monday I post Real Life Minimalists, a profile of one of my readers in their own words. If you’d like to participate, click here for details.

I’m so happy to share this contribution from A Minimalist in the Making, who’s embracing a wonderful challenge: going car-free!

A Minimalist in the Making writes:

I wouldn’t call myself a minimalist, exactly. If you saw where I live, minimalism is probably not the first word that would come to mind. Cosy, comfortable maybe…but not minimalist.

But lately, an idea has been taking shape in my head. An idea that some people think is a little extreme: I’m thinking of selling my car and not replacing it with another one.… {Read more}

Hi, everyone!

I’m from the Philippines.

I’ve always been a minimalist even long before I know the term existed. But my love affair with it became stronger when I realized that I’m not alone. I started reading blogs (such as missminimalist.com) and learned more about this movement.… {Read more}
