Lightly Preorder Offer: A Lovely Print

January 22, 2019

Thank you all for your wonderful comments about my upcoming book, Lightly! Your support and encouragement mean everything to me, and I can hardly wait until Feb. 26 to share it with you.

As I mentioned in my last post, one of the loveliest things about this book is the design. I had the honor of working with the very talented Ryn Frank (check out her Instagram), whose illustrations and hand-lettered quotes appear throughout the text.

So I’m very excited that my publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, has put together a gorgeous preorder offer for Lightly: a 5″ x 7″ print of one of the quotes from the book!

They’ll mail the print (in early March) to the first 200 people who preorder Lightly.

Yes, I’m aware of the irony of offering a physical item in conjunction with a book on minimalism. But sometimes a visual cue can work wonders in changing habits and strengthening resolve. So if this small reminder hanging by your desk, your bedside, or even in your closet reminds you on a daily basis to live more lightly, it may be worth the tiny space it occupies. I’m a visual person, and this is the kind of thing that helps me. :)

And if you’d like a print, but haven’t yet preordered, you can do so through the following links:

  • Amazon
  • Barnes & Noble
  • Books a Million
  • Hudson
  • Indiebound
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • 800-CEO-Read
  • HMH

And no worries if a print’s not your thing; you can certainly preorder and not fill out the form. In any case, thank you for listening to me get excited about the book; only one month to go, and I’ll try my best not to talk your ear off about it! ;-)

So disappointed that you have to be a US resident to enter. Never mind!

I’ve filled the form in anyway – it doesn’t specifically say US only. I’m in the UK so used that as my two letter abbreviation. Hope that helps you out

Hi Amanda and Jen – I’m so sorry, but this particular offer is open to US residents only, as stated in the Eligibility Requirements (first page). HMH, who holds the rights to and is offering the print, is my publisher in the US. I have an entirely different publisher in the UK (Quercus Books)–I don’t know if they have plans for a preorder offer, but will keep you updated!

Oh so disappointed – I didn’t notice the ‘USA residents only’ part when i filed out my form. :(

Fair enough – sorry Amanda, I was very much still asleep when I looked at it all this morning. Thank you for clarifying Francine 🙂 (I’m still far too excited for the release, I tell *everybody*! Lol)

I keep recommending your books and this blog to everyone. Life is too precious to keep shopping and storing junk.

I continue to declutter. Bags of books, clothing, and excess tableware keep leaving. My daughter just threw out 25 pieces of paper and gave away a big bag full of plastic bags to the local food pantry.. My husband and I went on a seven day cruise around the Hawaiian islands. We each took a small suitcase and a small tote. If we were not coming back to a Chicago winter,we could have travelled even lighter. If I go spend a week with a friend or relative, all I need is a large tote, because I know they have a washer. Hotels, ships, etc. have shampoo, lotion and conditioner. Many years ago, when I started wearing mostly dark solid colors, I was the only one. Now, I see more people traveling light. I still see people buying tons of souvenirs.
