My 7 Links

July 24, 2011

Betsy Talbot from the fabulous Married with Luggage recently nominated me to participate in the “My 7 Links” project that originated at Tripbase.com. She asked me to select a post in each of the following categories, then invite five other bloggers to do the same.

I really appreciate the honor, and the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane!

Most beautiful
Minimalist Philosophy: Sophrosyne
I chose this one simply because the concept itself—living a harmonious life by embracing enough—is so beautiful.

Most popular
Minimalism in the Family
In this post, I speculated on whether minimalism ran in families—and the comments (210 of them!) were fascinating.

Most controversial
The Minimalist Wardrobe (aka The 10-Item Wardrobe)
This post sparked an interesting discussion, and elicited a wide variety of opinions on my capsule wardrobe.

Most helpful
Minimalist Travel: What’s in My Suitcase
I’ve received more emails about this post than any I’ve ever written, and am thrilled to know that so many people are interested in traveling lightly.

A post whose success surprised you
400 Square Feet is the New Black
I never expected this little post about my tiny flat to get such a wonderful response.

A post you feel didn’t get the attention it deserved
Where to Donate Your Stuff: 101 Places Your Clutter Can Do Good
This post was well-received here on my blog, but I would have loved to get the word out about these organizations to a wider audience around the internet. It’s wonderful when your castoffs can do good for someone else!

The post of which you are most proud
The Minsumer Movement: A Quiet Revolution
Because I truly believe that minimalism can make our world a better place.

I’m nominating the following five bloggers to participate in the project, and look forward to seeing which posts they select:
The Minimalist Woman
The Minimalist Packrat
The Simple Poppy
Redefining the Meaning of Wealth
The New Nomads

Your most inspiring articles to me were “nothing to steal” and your minimalist bedroom pix.

I’ve been decluttering for nearly 11 years now (I’m sloooowwww) and recently two people said my apartment was “quite spacious”. Not bad for 45 square metres, right?

I also thought your where-to-donate post deserved wider distribution so I posted a link to it to a discussion forum about preparing to move into an RV. I hope it got you some traffic and gave people entering my lifestyle some help in disbursing their no longer wanted stuff.

What a great idea! I enjoyed reading why you chose the posts you did, Francine. I pretty much like reading everything you post here :-), and one favorite I look forward to every week is your Real Life series. I know I can always count on your blog for inspiration to stay on the simple path. (I “met” you in the Simple Living Forums, I believe)

    Hey Francine,

How fun! I just got a chance to go check out your 7 and explore those older posts. And…. thanks for nominating me along with the others. Exciting! I just got my 7 links post put up today and it was really fun to participate. Thanks Francine!
